Jetstar to launch flights between Perth and Christchurch

04 March, 2026

Perth Airport has welcomed Jetstar’s announcement that it will launch a new seasonal non stop service between Perth and Christchurch, further strengthening Western Australia’s connectivity with New Zealand.

The seasonal service will operate three times a week between October 2026 and March 2027, adding more than 30,000 seats to the market.

Perth Airport Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said the new Perth–Christchurch service is a strong win for Western Australia’s tourism and hospitality sectors, delivering more international visitors, increased economic activity and deepening people-to-people connections.

“New Zealand is already one of Western Australia’s favourite international destinations as it showcases a diverse mix of vibrant city experiences, breathtaking natural landscapes and world-class outdoor adventure.”

“We’ve worked in partnership with Jetstar, Christchurch Airport, Tourism New Zealand and Tourism WA to launch these new services which will deliver great benefits for our tourism and hospitality industries, supporting jobs and businesses across the state.”

The announcement comes amid strong international growth at Perth Airport, with rising passenger demand highlighting the importance of continued investment in aviation capacity.

“We’ve seen extraordinary growth at Perth Airport, with record international passenger numbers for 2025 surging by 12.5 per cent compared to 2024, and we have responded by welcoming new routes and adding capacity across the network,” Ms Holsgrove said.

“This unprecedented demand underscores the need for ongoing investment in infrastructure to support Western Australia’s growing role as a global aviation gateway.”
