Q Design + Construct has been awarded the contract to build the 17,100sqm facility combining a modern corporate office with Australia’s largest manufacturing hub for stand-alone power systems, and a world-class testing centre.
Perth Airport’s Chief Property Officer Dan Sweet said Skyfields is delighted to partner with QDC and Pacific Energy on the landmark development.
“QDC’s specialised expertise and innovative approach as an industrial builder aligns with Skyfields’ commitment to delivering best-in-class outcomes for our clients as we unlock new opportunities across our industrial, office, retail and leisure precincts.”
The property division of Perth Airport, Skyfields is leading one of Australia’s largest urban developments with more than 250 hectares of developable land just 12km from Perth CBD. The Pacific Energy development is Skyfields’ largest industrial project to-date and part of a major evolution across the 2,105 hectare Airport Estate.
Damon James, Managing Director of QDC said QDC is proud to be awarded the design and construction of the new Pacific Energy facility and appreciates the trust that Skyfields has placed in our team to deliver such an important project.
“This award further reinforces QDC’s position in the delivery of large-scale industrial workshops, and we look forward to continuing to develop our partnership with Skyfields,” he said.
Located on a 3.57 hectare site within the industrial hub Tonkin Connect (Airport South), the Pacific Energy design includes an 11,900sqm high-truss workshop with four overhead 40-tonne cranes and dual 20-tonne hoists, as well as an ESFR fire system for flexible use as a warehouse; expansive 5,200sqm office; and two-level podium carpark.
Pacific Energy CEO Mike Hall said, we’re really excited to be developing this new state-of-the-art facility in partnership with Skyfields, with the aim to consolidate over 30,000sqm of offices and facilities.
“This new opportunity will support our existing customers and portfolio of assets, enable the ongoing growth of our product offering, and deliver a world-class office space for our ever-growing team.”
The project is expected to create 450 jobs during construction and accommodate up to 400 employees once operational.
