The project will deliver a new 17,100sqm facility for Pacific Energy as a part of its business unification and expansion strategy, bringing together a specialised workshop with world-class testing facilities and a corporate head office.

The milestone was marked with a smoking ceremony led by Noongar Elders as the traditional custodians of the land, attended by representatives of Skyfields, parent company Perth Airport, Pacific Energy and builder Q Design + Construct.

The ceremony recognised the cultural significance of the land and paid respect to the enduring connection of the Noongar people to Country, as work begins on the site.

“This development brings together strategic location, long‑term partnerships and infrastructure investment to support continued economic growth in WA,” said Dan Sweet, Chief Property Officer of Perth Airport. “We’re pleased to see construction commence on this important new facility for the renewable energy sector in partnership with Pacific Energy and Q Design + Construct.”

Cheryl Edwardes, Non-Executive Chair of Pacific Energy said: “Celebrating the foundational milestone of our new headquarters with the site’s traditional custodians provides a strong and respectful footing on which to start Pacific Energy’s new chapter of growth. Together, we’ve marked the beginning of a long‑term investment in people, local capability, and Australia’s clean energy future.”

Damon James, Managing Director of QDC said: “Pacific Energy’s investment is a strong vote of confidence in Western Australia’s manufacturing, local employment and clean energy future. Q Design & Construct is proud to be part of this project alongside Skyfields, Pacific Energy and our delivery partners, with a shared focus on safety, quality and delivery.”

Located on a 3.57 hectare site within the industrial precinct Tonkin Connect (Airport South), the Pacific Energy design includes an 11,900sqm high-truss workshop with four overhead 40-tonne cranes and dual 20-tonne hoists, as well as an ESFR fire system for flexible use as a warehouse; expansive 5,200sqm office; and two-level podium carpark.

The state-of-the-art facility aims to consolidate over 30,000sqm of Pacific Energy offices and facilities across Perth at the new location. It is expected to create 450 jobs during construction and accommodate over 400 employees once operational.
